INK # 1

Once again I am able to take a look into the realm of indie comics to find titles that I think you may enjoy.  Treasures aren’t only available from the “Big Two,” (referring to Marvel and DC comics of course), you can find a large number of comic books by independent creators that should end up in your collection.  By reviewing these comics we hope to spread the ‘word-of-mouth’ value for these works of art. In this review will introduce the world of INK.

“SeerNova Comics Presents INK.”  The second comic book to be released in the SeerNova Comics universe, written by Greg Moquin and penciled by Adam Fields as part of an independent comic book online platform labeled under the same name as the “universe’s” title.  I’ve been eager to get to this one even if only for the reason that it has amazing cover with art also by Adam Fields.  The first thing you notice about INK is that brilliant purple shaded cover depicting perhaps the main character in a powerful pose amalgamating with some form of energy.  In the foreground: an ominous tattoo on the characters forearm. The page art is pretty damn fantastic particularly as it is enhanced by the colors of Febri Ferdian.  I especially liked the ominous design of the dream sequence as Ferdian’s colors gave it a terrifying feel.  As I turn to the first page I realize my instinct was on point as we are introduced to Shane Murphy, a tattoo artist, who’s life was about to take a fantastic turn into a whole new direction.  What is destiny?  Every hero receives it’s call. Shane Murphy must heed that call when it is directed towards him in the form of visions and a tattoo that appears on his forearm.  Where will it all lead?  I won’t spoil the ending, but beyond that, I can’t wait to see.  Moquin does a great job at leading us to the end where we expect to find answers then slams the reader with a million more questions.  I hope that we will get to the bottom of some of these new questions soon.  This is one title that I’d like to keep up with. -G

If you want to read INK online, just go to SeerNovaComics.com.  If you need to get your hands on a physical copy (I personally prefer this more)  you can drop a personal message to the writer on Facebook here: facebook.com/greg.moquin91.
