If you’ve been been around anyone with Netflix lately, chances are you’ve heard the name: Luke Cage. Who exactly is that? It isn’t a common household name. All you know is that he fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe…somewhere. I first heard the name from the pages of Power Man and Iron Fist. Thats a comic that will soon be relevant in the Netflix arena.
If you want to find out just why you should discover who Luke Cage is, you need look no further than Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1. The comic was released in 1972 and was created by Archie Goodwin, John Romita, Sr. and George Tuska. The story begins with his origin. You’re introduced to Luke Cage’s life before and after the event that made him who he is. You meet his true love and his worst enemy. So much of the story on Netflix came from this book here. It’s an older comic but it’s still written so well and definitely worth a look.
